I have known Michaela, and her twin Melissa, since they were born. I was 10 years old and spent every day after school playing with them. They lived next door for 5 years until their family moved back to New Zealand and we have kept in touch ever since. Michaela is 19 and at university studying to be a teacher – she will be such an awesome teacher! – and she flew to Australia for a bit of a break over Summer, so I took the opportunity to photograph her while she was staying with us.

Love you lots Tay xx

Mardee and I had been talking about and planning this session for what seemed like months! Mardee is turning the big 3-0 this year and wanted to do something pretty special to celebrate her life to this point (in addition to travelling to Everest later this year!!). So we planned a day of fun portraits, serious portraits, and portraits that celebrate her body and her femininty.
I’m so pleased Mardee was so keen to work on these portraits, and I really love the concept of doing something like this for yourself. The concept of creating portraits that are personal, and celebrate where you are in life, right now. And while the portraits we make together are important, I love that fact that we had a really great time during the session too!
On to the images!

Thank you to Mardee for allowing me to share these images.
