When I work on a newborn session, I’m normally working with two parents who are overwhelmed, in awe, exhausted and generally haven’t had much time to stop and check in with each other. At the end of the baby focused session, I will ask mum and dad if they’d like to have a couple of quick portraits made, of just the two of them. The results are of course, always varied, but the common factor is usually a husband and wife finally getting a moment to slow down to say ‘hi’, and have a few minutes with the focus back on them. The images are always bursting with emotion, and capturing that is priceless.
Here are Amanda & Michael’s portraits … post baby Grace …

Meet 4 week old Mitch, and his lovely parents Donna and John. Mitch is one special little guy – truly a miracle in every sense of the word, and loved to within an inch of his life by his family. He is also one of the most chilled out and laid back babies I have ever worked with – nothing really phased him too much, and he was very happy to go with the flow of our session together. He’s going to be a chatter box one day soon … grunting away whether awake or asleep, clicking his tongue and experimenting with lots of lovely new sounds.
Introducing Mitch …!

Very hard to choose a favourite family photo of such a beautiful family, so here are most of my favourites …

Hanging out with dad ….
… and having snuggles with mum.

Lastly … those tiny little details that we have got to show off!

These images are of Grace at 6 days of age. This was more about getting some nice wrinkly, curly photos of Grace in all her newness, but we still managed a couple of moments with the whole family together. We’ve since done a “full” session and those images will be posted shortly … I’m sure you wont get sick of seeing this beautiful face here ….. :)
And I just had to add this one because it cracks me up so much!!!

Finally … a few images of beautiful Grace! These photographs are from the night she was born, and she is about an hour old in them. Mum and dad’s intention was for me to be there when she arrived to capture all of those very emotional moments when they first lay eyes on their daughter, but Grace had other ideas. Things went from a phone call saying “things are going slowly, stay at home for now”, to “come now! come now!” within two hours! Grace was born while I was parking my car at the hospital! We had lots of lovely cuddles, and it was very overwhelming to meet this treasured little girl after all these months.
Formally introducing Grace Emma …

Nanna Robyn’s very first cuddle with Grace. I love this photograph – my favourite from the night!
I love this image too … Nanna Yvonne and Grace checking each other out for the first time …

This is from the next day … Mum and Grace having cuddles …

I’ll have a bunch of photographs from day six to post over the weekend … and more to follow after a full family session this weekend … get used to seeing this beautiful face here!
