This has been a long time coming, and both Amanda and I have been busting to work together on this session. Considering how close we are, it was something very special to do together and it made Amanda very comfortable, and so she was up for pretty much anything! :)
Another fabulous thing that must be mentioned, is that Amanda has an amazing view about her pregnant body. While she’s not completely thrilled about the three little stretch marks that just recently appeared on her belly, she accepts that its all a part of being pregnant and that her body is doing such an amazing thing right now, that a few stretch marks really pale in comparison.
It is something very special to photograph a pregnant woman on the brink of bringing a new life into this world, especially when the woman walks away saying how much fun she had working together and how great the session made her feel about herself and her pregnant body, but photographing your closest friend at this life changing moment and having her feel those same things is indeed extra special and a pretty amazing experience.
So … here she is!
Technically not a maternity photograph, but she is pregnant and I think its such a beautiful image of the two of them.
LOVE, LOVE this image!
We headed to the beach to capture a few shots we’d spoken about for months, but the weather did not want to cooperate – it was overcast and windy and the water was so choppy, but Amanda and Michael worked with it and we made some great images!
(Amanda wore this fabulous red dress, so I had to throw a few colour images in there!)
As we were heading back to the car to leave, we stumbled across this gorgeous area sitting right behind the dunes! We had to stop and make a few images, and again – look at this place, how could we not take a few in colour?!!
I love every single one of these images, I love that Amanda and Michael are so comfortable in front of my camera that I can get images like this just brimming with their love for each other and their new baby girl about to make her grand entrance.

Now … Amanda has been very gracious in allowing me to use the following images here. They are not technically maternity photographs, more intimate or “boudiour”, but to have them made when you are a full 8 months pregnant I think is pretty special. I think Amanda’s words were that these shots made her feel “minxy” and “sexy”, and I am so happy I have made images that make her feel like this. (She’s wearing Michael’s shirt he wore at their wedding).

We drove up to visit my grandfather recently who is very unwell ….. I just wanted to share this image I got of my grandma & granddad holding hands. I love it because they still always hold hands and are very affectionate with each other, so to me, this photograph sums them up very nicely.

Amanda at 8 months! This is the last session in our maternity progress shoot, so we’ll decide on one pose and frame up the images from each month in one frame to show the progress.

You may remember Naree & Lee from our beautiful maternity session on the beach recently, well, this is their little man at 3 weeks old. A spitting image of his father and such a cutie!! This is the earliest age I have ever photographed professionally, and everything I had heard from other photographers about newborns was very true. He was a little fussy, and once he fell asleep he would wake immediately if we moved him at all! Then, all of a sudden, we hit a “sweet spot” for about 15 minutes where he slept so deeply that we were pretty much able to do with him what we wanted! It was lovely and so nice to know that this is all out of my hands and to realise that a new baby really does run the show.
Enough talk from me … here he is ….

This is a long time over due, but here is Amanda and Grace at 7 months along ….. starting to notice a big difference now …
Now I have been doing these progress photos for a few months now, and we are able to knock over the session pretty quickly these days, and the photos all look much the same (as intended), but there is something about this particular image of Amanda that I just adore …
